FALL PROGRAMS

Pre-registration is required for all programs, as space is limited! 

Beyond BASIC #230001
 
Dates/Times: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays from 9:00am-5:00pm 
Location: Hazel Parker Playground
Cost: $168/session
Call for Semester dates (semesters run in 6 week intervals) 
Ages: Teens & Adults

Beyond BASIC is a day program that encourages learning life skills beyond the basics that encourages individuals in the community become more independent. Participants will focus and develop skills in the five elements that make up the programs foundation; social skills, health awareness, independent living skills, increased self-esteem and personal areas of interest.

Dates: August 7-October 16 (no practice 9/4 for Labor Day)
Times: Mondays from 6:00pm-7:00pm
Location: Charleston Tennis Center (19 Farmfield Avenue)
Cost: $30 
Ages: 10 yrs-adult, all abilities

Deadline to register is August 4th. 

Athletes will learn skills, short court and full court fundamentals. Players will have the chance to play singles or doubles games.

Dates: September 7-November 9
Times: Thursdays from 6:00pm-7:00pm
Location: Charleston Municipal Golf Course (2110 Maybank Highway)
Cost: $30 
Ages: 10 yrs-adult, all abilities

Deadline to register is September 5th. 

Players will learn the basic rules, etiquette, skills, and fundamentals of Golf.

Unified Cooking #230310

Dates: September 13-27
Times: Wednesdays from 6:00pm-8:00pm
Location: Hazel Parker Playground
Cost: $40 
Ages: 10 yrs-adult, all abilities

Deadline to register is September 7th. 

Chefs will have the hands-on experience of cooking basic meals with Ms. Ashton! Working together, we will select ingredients, discuss proper nutrition and making healthy choices, set the table, and cover kitchen safety. Each chef will receive a cookbook of the prepared recipes to take home. Dinner is served each night.

Dates: October 11-December 6 (no practice 11/22)
Time: Wednesdays from 6:30pm-7:30pm 
Location: W.L. Stephens Pool (West Ashley)
Cost: $30 
Ages: 10 yrs-adult, all abilities

Deadline to register is October 9th. 

Athletes will learn the skills and fundamentals of swimming. The Fall swim is a fun swim. Practices will focus on just being in the water and will not be competitive. The winter fun swim is a perfect opportunity to get used to swimming. 


CCSD SPECIAL EVENTS

Sportsational #133010 
Date: March 1
Time: 10:00am-1:00pm
Location: James Island Rec Complex
Cost: FREE
Ages: Elementary, Middle and High school students

Sportsational is for students of special needs classrooms in the Charleston County School District to spend the day participating in different sport activities such as basketball, tennis, small games, gymnastics, and jump castles. City of Charleston Police and Fire fighters teach us about safety and we end the day with lunch and awards.

Sun and Fun Bocce Invitational #430020
Date: October 2017 (TBD) 
Time: 10:00am-1:00pm
Location: Forest Park Playground
Cost: FREE
Ages: Elementary, Middle and High school students

Sun and Fun is fun day for children in the Charleston County School District to come out to a City of Charleston Recreation facility to participate in different activities such as swimming, basketball, tennis, bocce, and wiffle ball. This tournament is a Special Olympics sanctioned event.


SPECIAL EVENTS

Unified Beach Prom #434410

Location: Arthur W. Christopher Community Center
Cost: $4 in advance/$5 at the door (if still available)
Ages: All ages, all abilities

You're invited to our beach themed prom! Dress your best and dance the night away with your friends while enjoying your favorite music! The event is held in partnership with the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission. 

*The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission invites ladies to attend Say Yes to the Dress on Sunday, August 6 from 1-4pm to pick out their formal dress for the prom. Say Yes to the Dress will take place at Cypress Hall in Wannamaker County Park. For more information on Say Yes to the Dress, please call CCPRC at 843-795-4386.

Have you always wanted to know how spooky Charleston is? Join us for a walking ghost tour on the streets of downtown Charleston. This tour will be provided by Charleston Pirate tour with lots of waling so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Pack a lunch and we will eat at Hazel Parker Playground after the tour at 1pm. 

Tourist in Your Own Town - Bee City!

Buzz over with us to Bee City to experience more than just bees! This trip will include viewing a working hive (behind a glass wall), bottling your own honey, experience an on-site petting zoo, feed primates, birds, and many more animals.
