Neighborhood Initiative Program
Program Overview
The Neighborhood Initiative Program (NIP) is designed stabilize property values through the removal of blighted properties in strategically targeted neighborhoods. NIP will assist communities by stemming the decline of home values and acting as a catalyst to initiate redevelopment and revitalization in areas suffering from blight and decline.

The City of Charleston in collaboration with P.A.S.T.O.R.S. Inc. and Sea Island Habitat for Humanity through the guidance of the NIP program will acquire, demolish and conduct greening practices for blighted properties identified in the local target area by the City and its partners.

Funding for NIP is made possible by the U.S. Department of the Treasury through a joint venture of the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority and the SC Housing Corp. (SCHC), a not-for-profit corporation. For more information contact the City of Charleston Department of Housing and Community Development at 843-724-3766.
