Short Term Rental Task Force

Short Term Rentals have been on the rise due to use of online platforms such as HomeAway, AirBnB, and VRBO. However, in many cities, including Charleston, the allowance of short term rentals is restricted through existing laws and ordinances. How to regulate short term rentals is an issue currently being addressed in other cities across the country. The City of Charleston is conducting its evaluation of short term rentals and associated accommodations regulations through a Short Term Rental Task Force, made up of citizens appointed by the Mayor and City Council Members.
