Harold Koon Award – Harold Koon, 1948-1998

HK Logo BG.jpgHarold Koon, a long-time resident of the Mazyck-Wraggborough/Garden District was an indomitable volunteer for the city of Charleston and his neighborhood.  His leadership and ability to create a sense of pride for his neighbors was outstanding.  Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. established this award in 1998 to perpetuate the energy, dedication and selflessness of his example.

Nineteen citizens of Charleston have received this award.
Eugene Frazier from the Westchester neighborhood received the 2017 Harold Koon Volunteer Award and was honored before City Council.

Nominations for the 2017 Harold Koon Award for Excellence in Volunteer Service will be accepted through November 30, 2016.
