Tourism Management Division
About the Division
The Tourism Management Division serves as a liaison between the tourism industry and the city's residents. Services provided by the division include licensing tour guides, issuance of tour permits, and enforcement of the Tourism Ordinance, among others.

The administrative office of the Division of Tourism Management is located near the Visitor Reception and Transportation Center at 32 Ann Street (in the same building as the Music Farm and Charleston School of Law Library) and is open every day of the week from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except Thanksgiving and Christmas). This division serves as a liaison between the tourism industry on the local, state, and national level and the city's residents. Its purpose is to provide a cohesive balance between one of the city's major industries and its citizenry.
 
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this division include, but not limited to:
  • Licensing of city tour guides
  • Determination of vehicle appropriateness (buses and carriages)
  • Issuance of transportation and tour permits for motor coaches
  • Overall enforcement of the City of Charleston's Tourism Ordinance
