Harold Koon Award

Harold Koon (1948-1998), a long-time resident of the Mazyck-Wraggborough/Garden District was an indomitable volunteer for the city of Charleston and his neighborhood. His leadership and ability to create a sense of pride for his neighbors was outstanding. Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. established this award in 1998 to perpetuate the energy, dedication and selflessness of his example.

Sebastian DeModica from the North Central neighborhood received the 2019 Harold Koon Volunteer Award and was honored before City Council.
