Charleston Police Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Chief Luther T. Reynolds
Charleston, S.C. – The public is invited to attend a visitation and celebration of life honoring the distinguished service and legacy of Charleston Police Chief Luther T. Reynolds. Chief Reynolds’ family will receive visitors on May 28, 2023, from 3-6 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home located at 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414. A procession from McAlister-Smith will follow on May 30, 2023, beginning at 10 a.m. and escorting Chief Reynolds to the celebration of life at 11 a.m. at Seacoast Church located at 750 Long Point Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
Citizens, friends, and colleagues may attend the visitation to pay their respects and offer condolences to Chief
Reynolds’ family. Media representatives are requested to respect the privacy of the family during this solemn occasion.
The celebration of life will honor Chief Reynolds and his extraordinary contributions to law enforcement and the Charleston community. The event will feature speeches, readings, and musical performances in remembrance of his life and accomplishments. Officers will escort Chief Reynolds from McAlister-Smith Funeral Home to Seacoast Church ahead of the celebration of life. Road closures will begin May 30, 2023, at 9:45 a.m. The procession will commence at 10 a.m., and community members are invited to offer their support and respect by lining the sides of the procession route. Charleston Police Department and the Reynolds family extend their sincere gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time. Luther Reynolds will be fondly remembered as a kind and compassionate man with an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
