City of Charleston to Begin Traffic Signal Update at Meeting and Broad Streets

Work will begin Monday, July 17, 2023 to install updated traffic signal infrastructure at the intersection of Meeting and Broad Streets. The installation, which is scheduled to take thirty days to complete, will include replacement of the existing traffic signal cabling, in-ground enclosures, traffic cabinet, concrete work and power service.

In order to prevent disruption to drivers and ensure the orderly flow of traffic, portable solar traffic signals will be used to control the intersection during the work period. The existing traffic signals, including the pedestrian signal head, will be disabled while the update is completed.

During this period, pedestrians are asked to exercise additional caution when crossing.
