[ARCHIVED] Environmental Services Modified Collections Schedule on King Street Friday, June 26

To our Environmental Service Customers:

This Friday, June 26, 2015, a number of roads will be closed due to the funeral service that will be held for Senator Pinckney at the TD Arena. This will require traffic to be re-routed to King Street, East Bay Street, and other roads during the morning hours. In order to prevent additional traffic and pedestrian congestion, the City of Charleston Environmental Services Division will run a modified collections schedule on King Street.

On Friday, June 26, 2015, the early morning collection will begin at 3:00 am in lieu of the normal start time. This will allow us to clear the street prior to the nearby road closures.

The mid-morning collection that normally begins at 9:30 am will be cancelled. Waste that is normally put out for this collection should be put out in time for the early collection prior to 3:00 am or should be held for the next regular collection which will occur on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 5:00 am. Also, for security reasons, all garbage carts, cans, and waste materials must be removed from the sidewalk by 9:00 am on Friday, June 26, 2015.

Saturday collections will run as normally scheduled.

We know that this is an inconvenience and appreciate your help keeping our city beautiful and safe as visitors come to Charleston to pay respect and honor the lives of those lost at the Mother Emanuel AME Church. If you have any special concerns, please contact the Environmental Services Division at 724-7365.
