[ARCHIVED] AmeriCorps*VISTA Program Opportunity for Agencies

The City of Charleston, Project Sponsor of the AmeriCorps*VISTA program in Charleston County for 2016-17, is hosting two informational meetings to kick-off the project site application process. Attendance at one of the informational sessions is required to apply to become a VISTA project site. Agencies and organizations serving the low-income community of the Charleston area are encouraged to apply to be a site and host a VISTA member for a one-year term of service. The applications will be distributed at the following sessions:

1. Wednesday, February 24th, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., Charleston County Public Library, 68 Calhoun Street

2. Friday, February 26th, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., North Charleston City Hall, Buist Room, 3rd floor (2500 City Hall Lane). Parking is available.


Mindy Sturm, Director of the City of Charleston Mayor’s Office for Children Youth and Families said, “AmeriCorps VISTA is an excellent resource for non-profits, agencies, and organizations, and we strongly encourage you to consider how your agency could benefit from having a VISTA member.”

AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program of the Corporation for National and Community Service designed specifically to fight poverty. VISTA supports efforts to alleviate poverty by encouraging individuals from all walks of life to engage in a year of full-time service with a sponsoring organization to create or expand programs designed to bring individuals and communities out of poverty.
