The Swedish tall ship Gunilla arrived yesterday for its 12th visit to the city of Charleston, and will remain docked at the Charleston Maritime Center through May 1, 2018.
The 160’ Barkentine ship arrived with 52 students and crew aboard. The students, 17 and 18 years old, are in their second year of a three-year program aboard the Gunilla. While in Charleston, they will engage in marine biology studies at Grice Laboratory at Fort Johnson, make a trip to Patriot’s Point, and complete other educational activities.
The public is invited to visit the ship and speak with the crew and students. Tours may be given if time permits.
