[ARCHIVED] Holiday Farmers Market, Tree Lighting Cancelled

Due to severe weather conditions, the city of Charleston has cancelled this evening's Tree Lighting ceremony in Marion Square. In addition, this morning's Holiday Farmers Market has closed.

These decisions were made in consultation with the National Weather Service, which is warning of the possibility of worsening conditions this afternoon and into tonight.

"This is a good day to stay indoors with family and friends, particularly as conditions may deteriorate over the next several hours," said city of Charleston Emergency Management Director Shannon Scaff. "In the meantime, city public safety officials will continue to monitor conditions as they develop, and provide whatever resources and support are needed as this system passes through the city."
