The St. Julian Devine Community Center Smokestacks Task Force will meet for the first time at 11 a.m. today to hear an update from City of Charleston Capital Projects on the status of most recent inspection of the chimneys and the status of the Bennett Preservation Engineering contract and work performed.
Additionally, the task force will hear from neighborhood representatives and preservation groups.
Members of the task force are Councilwoman Marie Delcioppo, Councilman Robert Mitchell, Eastside Community Development Corporation President Latonya Gamble, Eastside Community Development Corporation board member Deborah Powell-Anderson, Preservation Society representative John Massalon, Historic Charleston Foundation Board of Trustees Chair Robert Clement, City of Charleston Deputy Capital Projects Director Edmund Most and Chief Building Official Ken Granata.
