Lieutenant Heath King is currently assigned as the Commander of the Central Business District, the portion of the city that includes the Market along with Upper and Lower King Street.
Education
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina. He is also a 1997 graduate of the Baltimore, Maryland Police Corps Academy.
Early Career
After graduating from the Police Corps, he began at the Charleston Police Department in the Team One patrol division. Lieutenant King also spent time in Team Four and as a fugitive investigator in the Warrants Division. He also spent time in the Traffic Division as a motor officer and supervisor. He was certified in Collision Reconstruction and assisted in the investigation of major collisions that occurred in the city. Lieutenant King also served as patrol supervisor in the Team Two area and was assigned as the Tourism liaison for the Police Department
Currently
He works daily with the city's business services, zoning, planning and transportation departments to maintain a successful management plan for the city's growing hospitality areas.
