Lieutenant Shylah Murray is a graduate of the Citadel with a Master's of Arts in Social Science and of Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
Early Career
Lieutenant Murray began with the Department in Team 4 and made her way to the Vice Unit. After Vice she served for many years as a Detective in Central Investigations until she was promoted to Sergeant. While serving as a Sergeant, Lieutenant Murray worked as a patrol supervisor in Team 4 and the Team 3 administrative Sergeant.
Currently
Lieutenant Murray has always been engaged with the diverse communities that reside in Charleston. Lieutenant Murray currently runs the Community Outreach Division.
Additional Duties
In addition to her role within the Charleston Police Department, Lieutenant Murray has served as the Charleston Fraternal Order of Police Lodge Number 5 President since 2007. Lieutenant Murray is also a member of the Civil Disturbance Team.
