Opportunities for Youth

To Volunteer, youth can participate in Youth Volunteer Corps, through which we create volunteer service-learning events.

For rising 7th and 8th graders, we offer the Summer Service Learning Institute, which offers 4 weeks of intensive leadership and volunteer skill development and engages youth in multiple volunteer projects.  

For high school and college youth, the Summer Youth Employment Program provides positions reserved for youth to work during the summer months with City Departments.

For youth interested in learning more about local government and voicing their concerns about the issues facing youth today, the Mayor's Youth Commission provides the opportunity for high school youth to meet with Mayor Cogswell and OCYF staff to explore these issues and come up with action items to help.
