Our online employment site allows applicants to easily search and apply for open positions.
The City of Charleston prefers that you apply via our online employment application. To apply online, simply click the "apply" button next to the opening that you are interested in. These openings are found on our employment page.
*Notice: If you are applying for any position with the Police Department you are required to use the online employment application.
In Person Applications
If you are unable to apply online, you may download an application from the link at the bottom of the page or pick up an application from the Department of Human Resources at 75 Calhoun Street, Suite 3600 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Applications must be submitted by the closing date on our employment opportunities page. Please note that positions will be closed on the later of the 5th business day or the date on which sufficient minimally qualified applications are received. To avoid disappointment please submit your application as soon as possible.
Applicants for all other positions (not in the Police Department) may apply online, via mail, email, fax or in person.
Local ordinance requires that male applicants between the ages of 18 and 26 who seek employment with the City of Charleston shall submit documentation evidencing registration with the Selective Service System or documentation evidencing exemption from such registration.
