Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator

The city ADA Coordinator's responsibilities include the following:  

  • Coordinating overall ADA compliance;
  • Reviewing and revising previous assessments of City facilities, programs, and operations to document outstanding ADA concerns;
  • Preparing a plan to address problem areas;
  • Reviewing proposed private developments in the Technical Review Committee (TRC), Design Review Committee (DRC) and Special Events Committee (SEC)  to assure ADA compliance;
  • Involving people with disabilities in the ADA compliance process;
  • Serving as a contact person for information and to respond to questions about the ADA; and
  • Investigating ADA-related grievances against the City of Charleston.
