The city ADA Coordinator's responsibilities include the following:
- Coordinating overall ADA compliance;
- Reviewing and revising previous assessments of City facilities, programs, and operations to document outstanding ADA concerns;
- Preparing a plan to address problem areas;
- Reviewing proposed private developments in the Technical Review Committee (TRC), Design Review Committee (DRC) and Special Events Committee (SEC) to assure ADA compliance;
- Involving people with disabilities in the ADA compliance process;
- Serving as a contact person for information and to respond to questions about the ADA; and
- Investigating ADA-related grievances against the City of Charleston.
