In Summer 2024, Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) were installed at a mid-block crosswalk at Fort Johnson Road and Bayview Farms Boulevard, James Island to enhance the safety of neighborhood pedestrian traffic, including the students of James Island Charter High School and their families.
Additionally, Traffic & Transportation relocated the Flashing School Zone Speed Limit sign from its original position near the crosswalk to a separate, more visible position on Fort Johnson Road.
