The Charleston Police Department is requesting assistance in identifying two suspects who assaulted an individual on King Street.
It was reported to officers that on March 23, 2025, at around 8:15 p.m., that an altercation began when a group of teenagers spit on an individual near King Street and Calhoun Street. When the victim confronted the teens for spitting on his girlfriend, multiple suspects punched and kicked the victim. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Nearby officers arrested one suspect after a brief foot pursuit. Luke Chafin (19, of Hanahan) is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, two counts of assault and battery 3rd degree, possession of a fake ID, and minor in possession of alcohol.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident and believe the individuals pictured were also involved in the assault.
