Charleston Police Investigating Fatal Collision in West Ashley

The Charleston Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on July 14, around 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and Dupont Road.

Officers determined that a pedestrian was walking in the roadway when they were struck by a vehicle travelling south on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard. The pedestrian died at the scene. The driver, McKither Vincent Bodison Jr (25, of Charleston) remained at the scene and is charged with DUI 1st offense. The roadway reopened at 7:45 a.m.

The collision remains under investigation. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased. This is the seventh fatal traffic-related collision investigated by the Charleston Police Department in 2025.
