The Charleston Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the Ashley Avenue homicide that occurred on December 10, 2025. This arrest follows the December 17 arrest of a 17-year-old suspect previously charged in the case.
Officers responded to a shooting on Ashley Avenue at approximately 6:45 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old who had been shot. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Luis Garcia-Galvez.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Garcia-Galvez drove to the location to meet the two suspects, who are related. Investigators believe the suspects approached the victim’s vehicle, attempted to rob him at gunpoint, and then shot him. The victim died as a result of his injuries.
Both suspects have been charged with the following offenses:
- Murder
- Armed robbery
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime
The 17-year-old suspect was arrested on December 17, 2025. The 16-year-old suspect was arrested on December 22, 2025, by CPD officers with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, North Charleston Police Department and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. Both juveniles are currently in custody at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
