Argument on Johns Island Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

CPD Newsroom Posted on October 02, 2025

The Charleston Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another injured on Jules Drive, Johns Island, on October 1.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting. When they arrived, officers found one man deceased in the front yard of a residence and another adult with multiple gunshot wounds. That individual was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Preliminary information indicates that several men had gathered at the residence when an argument took place. During the argument, one individual left and later returned wearing a mask and carrying a gun. A struggle broke out when another person attempted to take the weapon away, and that individual was shot several times.

A relative of the injured man then fired at the masked individual, who died at the scene. The person who discharged the firearm remained on scene and identified himself to officers. Detectives are continuing to review the circumstances.

This investigation is active, and no charges have been filed at this stage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Charleston Police Department at 843-720-2422 and ask for the on-duty Central Detective, or submit a tip anonymously at www.charleston-sc.gov/tips.
