Police Investigating After Pedestrian Fatally Struck Downtown

The Charleston Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian collision that occurred around 8:30 a.m. on December 15, 2025, on King Street near Mt. Pleasant Street. 

A car exiting the parking lot of 1227 King Street struck an adult pedestrian that was crossing the business’ driveway from the sidewalk. The pedestrian died at the scene.  

The driver has been interviewed, and detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the Charleston Police Department Traffic Unit at (843) 965-4084. This incident marks the twelfth fatal traffic-related collision investigated by the Charleston Police Department this year.
