Residential Category 1
Residential Category 1 corresponds to the area of the peninsula in the Old and Historic District (PDF) (area in light purple). In addition to meeting the general requirements for a residential short term rental permit, units in Category 1 must meet the following requirements:
- Property shall not contain more than 1 Short Term Rental unit
- PARKING: Property shall provide 1 off-street parking space in addition to providing, on the subject property, required off-street parking for existing uses on the property. The Zoning Ordinance requires 2 off-street parking spaces per dwelling unit. For example, a single-family dwelling unit with an STR unit requires 3 off-street parking spaces. The STR parking space may be situated in tandem with the required spaces for other uses on the property. Standard parking space size shall be 9′ × 18′6″.
- The Short Term Rental unit shall be located within an existing structure or accessory building that is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For information on listing a property on the National Register, please contact the State Historic Preservation Office
