Level 5 Assessments - What to Expect

Putting

Knowledge - need to say and demonstrate these putting forms

Plan

1. Mark the Ball
2. Reading the Green: Two Point Ready
3. Find Your Target
4. Practice the Strokes

Setup

1. Thumbs on Top
2. The "Y" Setup
3. Eyes over the ball
4. Aim the Train at a Spot

Play

1. Backswing -= FT. Short, Medium and Long Putt
2. Be still and Stick the Finish

Skills

1. Short Putt - Merry Go Round

• Place a ball three feet from the hole and count the number strokes to get it in the hole. On the second and third round, place the ball in different locations around the hole.

2. Medium Putt - 20' away on sloping green.

• Count the number of strokes to get it in the hole.

3. Opposite Side of Hole - 20' opposite side of medium putt.

• Count the number of strokes to get it in the hole.

4. Long Putt - 40' away.

• Count the number of strokes to get it in the hole.

After putting all four station, your combined score for all three rounds must be 26 or less to pass this Putting Skills Test.

Chipping Forms

Knowledge - need to say and demonstrate these chipping forms

Plan

1. Reading the Lie
2. Reading the Green
3. Find the Target
4. Club Selection
5. Practice Swing

Setup

1. Hotdog in a Bun
2. "Y" Setup, Ball in Middle
3. Aim the Train at a Spot

Play

1. "Y" Swing / Backswing = Follow Through
2. Brush the Grass
3. Stick the Finish and Be Still

Skills

1. Short Chip - 20' away, then put until holed out
2. Medium Chip - 40' away, then putt until holed out
3. Long Chip - 60' away, then putt until holed out

Your Score for one round must be 10 or less to pass this Chipping/Putting Skills Test

Pitching Forms

Knowledge - need to say and demonstrate these pitching forms

Plan

1. Reading the Lie

3. Club Selection
4. Practice Swings

Setup

1. Hotdog in a Bun
2. "Y" Setup / Ball in the Middle
3. Aim the Train at a Spot

Play

1. Backswing = FT / "L" to "L" Swing
2. Brush the Grass
3. Stick the Finish

Skills

1. Short Pitch - 10 yards away, then putt until holed out.
2. Medium Pitch - 20 yards away, then putt until holed out.
3. Long Pitch - 30 yards away, then putt until holed out.

Your Score for one round must be 11 or less to pass this Pitching/Putting combined Skills test.

Sand

Knowledge - need to say and demonstrate these Sand forms

Plan

1. Club Selection: Loft and Bounce
2. Practice Swings
3. Enter the Bunker
4. Determine your Lie

Setup

1. Don't Touch
2. Hotdog In a Bun
3. Open Stance / Swing Parallel

Play

1. Backswing = Follow-Through / "Y" to "L" Swing
2. Splash the Sand Under the Ball
3. Stick the Finish
4. Rake the Bunker

Skills

1. Sand Shot - 5 of 5 balls out of bunker, landing and staying on the green

Full Swing

Knowledge - need to say and demonstrate these full swing forms

 Plan

1. Find Your Target
2. Club Selection
3. Practice Swings

Setup

1. Hotdog in the Bun
2. Posture
3. "Y" Setup / Ball Positions
4. Aim the Train at the Target

Play

1. "Y" to "L"
2. Release the "L" Brush the Grass
3. Brush the Grass
4. Stick the Finish, Show some Shoe

Skills 

1. Iron Shot - Hit a 6, 7, or 8 Iron off the ground at least 60 yards in air, 4 of 5 attempts.
2. Driver Shot - Hit Driver off a tee at least 90 yards in the air, 4 of 5 attempts.

1. This information is covered in the back of the Learning Program Handbook. You must answer 5 of 5 questions correct verbally.

Scoring

1. Once qualified by passing skills test, you will go play 9 holes on the golf course. For Level 5, you must score 51 or less 1 time. 1,350 yard course.
