In 2018, a new office was created that includes and aligns the City’s efforts on Resilience, Emergency Management and Sustainability.

The City of Charleston's Office of Resilience and Emergency Management will provide leadership and foster collaboration that results in a holistic approach to understand threats, risks and interdependencies between systems, people and policy.  The office will also develop, champion and support efforts, consistent with recognized best practices, to lead city government towards solutions to make a stronger and more resilient Charleston from both chronic and acute shocks.
