Administration

Administration is responsible for all basic administrative functions and department coordination including budgeting, record keeping, purchasing, and other clerical activities.

Director Responsibilities

The director supervises:

  • Two deputy directors
  • Two assistant directors
  • Six division heads
  • The manager of administration and budgets

Community Events

The Parks Administration Division frequently receives calls for information regarding reserving City of Charleston Parks for events (Weddings, Birthdays, Reunions.) The Department of Recreation is responsible for programming and permitting all events.

In order to properly plan an event a permit is required. The cost of the permit depends on the complexity of the event. All permit applications (PDF) must be submitted to:
